Hiya! Welcome to the Events & Outings Weekly Update & Report for all you Killarney Camera Club members. I’m Liz Browne, and I’ve been a member since September 2023. Being part of this club has seriously upped my confidence with my camera. I really want to see more of you join us on outings, so I’ll be organizing trips and sharing updates and pics right here. But first, I want to say sorry to anyone who missed the Torc Waterfall trip because of the last-minute change in our meeting time. We’re working on better communication, and I’ll make sure the Events Calendar on the website is always up to date!

Our trip to Killarney National Park turned out great with a solid group showing up! We kicked things off at 9:30am, with Mary O’Sullivan leading the outing and Eric, on his bike, acting as deer spotter. We spent a few hours wandering around the park. Not a lot was happening on the rutting front, but it was wonderful to see the deer just hanging out in their natural habitat and I think we all got some great shots. I did overhear a couple of folks joking that there were more photographers than deer there, which gave me a laugh! Mary and a few others stuck around until lunchtime, totally unfazed by the periodic torrential rain! There’s some of my own photos at the end of the post for you all to look at!

The outing to Torc Waterfall on Sunday was all about giving some tips on slow shutter speed photography for beginners. Even with the mix-up on the meeting time, our seasoned members—Conor, Julia, Seamus, and our leader Keith—delivered some great instruction. We’re planning to do another trip like this in a few weeks for anyone who didn’t make it this time!

The next outing is to Gougane Barra and will be lead by Seamus. It is currently scheduled for early morning (6.30am meet time in Killarney) on Saturday 19th October. The weather is currently looking great for the trip but this outing is weather dependent so please keep an eye on the Events Calendar and emails from the Club Secretary for any changes/postponements – please note the latest notification for changes will be before 9pm Friday evening.

Any other newbies or those wanting a refresher course, just a reminder that George from Dingle Dark Room will be doing a workshop on Saturday 16th November in Dingle. If you want to put your name down for this please send Marie, our Club Secretary an email or contact me on the events@killarneycameraclub.ie .

Next Club meeting is scheduled for Thursday 24th October at 7.30pm and it’s competition night!
